The DNA of our House since 1927: knitting. A know-how that we have preserved for almost 100 years, and that our knitters pass on from generation to generation, so that our expertise continues.
Zoom in on this profession which is part of the French textile heritage, and which we are proud to shelter under our feet.
One of the added values of our beautiful House is the knitting workshops, installed in the basements of our historic Headquarters , right under our feet! Today, we knit approximately 30 tons of knitwear products (or 20,000 pieces per year) in our Workshops with exceptional yarns.
Our park is made up of 24 knitting machines , which run all year round, managed by a team of 5 knitters. It all starts with the programming of the machines, carried out by Martial, our workshop manager . He is the one who starts the machines, and who, depending on the knitting schedule and the quantity of panels to be knitted, will define on which machines we will produce which piece. He is also a setter , that is to say he will configure the software of the machine according to the model to be knitted, and he will adjust the tension of the threads and the speed of the machine so that the knitting goes well, helped by Pascal .
Pascal, Hervé and Charles are each responsible for 6 to 7 machines, and they are the ones who make sure that there are no broken needles, who will feed the loom with thread, and who will check that there are no defects on the panels . Knitting is a real team effort, and above all, meticulousness. Each time we start production of a piece on a loom, the teams always check the first panel that has been knitted. We make sure that there are no defects, that the program has been carried out without a hitch, and we spray the panel to check that the dimensions are correct. If not, we adjust, and if yes, we launch full production!
Finally, there is Willy, who will manage what we call the aftermath. When the panels are knitted, they will then be washed and steamed by our partners in Roanne. Steaming is a process similar to ironing, which works with heat and steam. These are crucial steps that will fix the mesh panels, before they are sent to be made by our French and European manufacturers.
